Hunting Hogs using Thermal Imaging often involves getting up close and personal with the animals, as the technology allows Hunters to Stalk their Prey silently and undetected. The close proximity adds an element of intensity and requires stealth and skill to execute a Successful Hunt. That’s was these guys did. They ended the night with 4 Wild Hogs!

Do You Know What A Hog's Best Sense Is?

Photo: Big Boar @PigProblem

They encountered warm weather and shifting winds while Hunting. They managed to take down a Big Boar. However, there were a few instances where we were winded during our Stalks. For those who may not understand, being winded refers to a situation where the wind changes direction while we're approaching the Hogs, and they are able to pick up our scent. Unlike most animals, Wild Hogs don’t have night vision, their eyes are similar to humans. However, their sense of smell is incredibly strong and they can detect scents from miles away. Feral Hogs possess an extremely well developed sense of smell; in fact, smell is a Hog's best sense. They rely heavily on it to detect danger and seek out food. They can smell some odors 5-7 miles away and can detect odors as many as 25 feet underground!

Last night, an adventurous young couple successfully took down a total of 8 Wild Hogs. Despite the freezing cold conditions, Guide Capt Max, confirmed that the Hogs were active. They even left one Pig in the field for so long that they couldn't get it to lay on its belly. Fortunately, the customer managed to capture the other 3 Hog Hunting Photos on her phone, so don’t think we are lying about the 8 Wild Pigs. The entire experience was truly Action-Packed and thrilling, as the couple indulged in an Exhilarating Night of Thermal Hunting.

This was the second night of their 2 Night Hog Hunting Package. They successfully took down 2 Pigs at the first field and then continued driving around in search of more Wild Pigs. Although they had another opportunity to shoot later in the night, they were unable to bring them down. Hogs are known for their toughness, thanks to their thick skin, which allows them to withstand a considerable amount of punishment and quickly recover. Sometimes, after being shot at, Wild Hogs may even pretend to be dead for a short period before getting back up and fleeing to safety. Hog Hunting is a challenging endeavor, but once you Master the Techniques of Hunting Wild Hogs, you will become a Skilled Hunter. Don't miss out on the unique experience of booking a Thermal Hog Hunt today.
