Before long, thermal detection picked up a sounder positioned near the center of a field. To avoid detection, the approach was made from the treeline, which temporarily caused loss of visual contact. Based on experience and terrain layout, attention shifted to a nearby low area that wasn’t visible until closing the distance.

That decision paid off.

The sounder was located exactly where expected, allowing for a controlled setup and a highly productive outcome. By the end of the night, six hogs were successfully recovered, making for a strong and efficient first night of Hog Control.

Darrell returned to Pig Problem once again for a two-night hunt with Guide Clay, and Night 2 turned into another standout performance. From the first setup to the final field, Darrell stayed focused, confident, and consistent.

Over the course of the night, Darrell successfully handled Multiple Hog Encounters, navigating singles and groups alike and putting together one of the most productive nights of the season. His ability to stay calm, make smart decisions, and adjust to fast-moving hogs showed exactly why he’s become one of Clay’s favorite hunters to guide.

The conditions made the night even more impressive.
Temperatures dropped hard, freezing the ground solid and turning the fields into concrete. Movement was tough, footing was unforgiving, and every step mattered. Even so, Darrell pushed through and made the most of every opportunity.

Late in the night, after a slip on the frozen ground, the decision was made to call it and head back in — a smart move after a long, successful night in harsh conditions.

Night 2 of this Georgia Thermal Hog Hunt with Guide Clay was simple, clean, and exactly how a good stalk is supposed to feel.

After covering fields throughout the night, Clay and his hunters finally located a single hog moving alone. Lone pigs are some of the most unpredictable animals in the field — they travel differently, react differently, and don’t always hold still like larger sounders do.

Still, the team moved in quietly, using the wind and terrain to their advantage. A steady, patient approach put them right where they needed to be, and before long, the single was successfully taken — a solid ending to a Hog Hunt that required focus and good teamwork.

Some nights test your patience, your wind reading, and your ability to adapt — and this was one of those nights. Guide Hank led this 1-Night Hog Hunt, and even with challenging conditions, the group still ended the night with solid success.

A Pig Right Out of the Gate

The Wild Hog Hunt began when the team spotted a hog from the road. As soon as they pulled into the field, the hog slipped into the treeline directly in front of them. That’s how fast things can change in South Georgia farmland — timing and movement matter.

A Sounder on the Opposite Side

Hank turned the group around and checked the opposite side of the field, where a full sounder was already out feeding. The wind wasn’t ideal, and the positioning made the approach tricky.

Even with those challenges, the team made the most of the opportunity and managed to connect with one of the hogs, though it moved off before they could reach it.

While searching the fields, the team noticed another hog back on the side where they originally started. They circled back, moved in carefully, and this time everything came together smoothly. The hog stayed in the open long enough for Hank to guide the group into a clean, controlled approach, ending with a successful recovery.

Guide Hank led a one-night Thermal Hog Hunt that reminded everyone how quickly things can change in the field.

The night had been quiet until just around midnight, when the team was driving through a wooded stretch and suddenly spotted a Sounder of Pigs about 200 yards out. They stopped fast, geared up, and got ready to make a move.

The wind was shifting along the treeline — never a good sign — and Hank knew that hesitation could send the pigs running. So, in a quick and decisive moment, he adjusted the team’s position and turned a surprise encounter into a successful outcome.

Night 2

The second night of this 2 Night Hog Hunt with Pig Problem brought plenty of excitement. Early in the evening, the crew encountered a single hog and got the night started on a high note. Not long after, three more hogs were spotted in the distance, leading to a long stalk across the field. Although those slipped away, the action wasn’t over yet.

Later in the night, a sounder appeared but was spooked by deer before the hunters could move into position. Still, patience and persistence paid off. Around 3 a.m., Guide Kaleb returned to the same field with the group and, just as expected, the hogs were back. After a careful approach, the hunters successfully closed out the night with three more hogs, including a Large Boar.

When the dust settled, the group wrapped up the Boar Hunt with five hogs total over two nights of Thermal Hog Hunting in Americus, Georgia. It was the perfect reminder that success in the field comes down to timing, patience, and determination.

This week’s Hog Hunt with Guide Kaleb turned into a night to remember. It started slow with only a few deer, but everything changed when we spotted a single Wild Hog off to the side of a Big Sounder. With the wind in our favor, one clean shot dropped it instantly.

Minutes later, five more broke off and came straight to us. The hunters didn’t miss—dropping all five.

The Hog Hunt kicked off with success in the very first field. We got into motion on a Sounder and walked away with three pigs in new homes. After gathering the everything, we continued the search—covering ground and scanning fields through thermal equipment.

At one point, we spotted a huge group of hogs, but they were just beyond our boundary. Still, watching them move through the fields was a thrill in itself. As the night wound down, we managed to add one more unexpected bonus to the list—a Coyote spotted and tracked before heading back in for the night.

Night Two:

One Hog, One Hill, and a Lot of Laughs

The second night brought a change of pace. As Hank put it, “What’s better than beer and hot glass?” (he is talking about Americus Ga Beer Fest) While there may be a few contenders, it’s hard to top a good night under the stars Thermal Hunting.

We ended up working for a Single Pig that didn’t get re-homed easy. It made a break for it over a hill, and we followed with a mix of anticipation and excitement, not knowing what we’d find. Sure enough, the effort paid off—we found our prize and got some great photos to wrap up the night. Very thankful to relocate this Piggy.

Night 1:

The first night got off to a promising start. As soon as the group pulled onto the very first field, a Lone Hog presented itself. Ron and Doug wasted no time, making a moment happen and getting the Wild Pig. The rest of the night, however, was quiet. Despite the stillness of the fields, the energy remained high. The Hog Hunters spent the hours swapping stories, sharing laughs, and enjoying the kind of camaraderie that makes nights in the field truly memorable.

The second night brought more action—and a battle with the weather. Thunder and lightning loomed in the distance, but that didn’t slow the Wild Hog Hunt. Three separate Hunting Stalks put the hunters in position, and on one approach, a Hog was still standing when Clayton and Zev moved in. Without hesitation, they lined up side by side and finished the job with precision.

Even as the storm rolled in, the night was filled with music, stories, and nonstop conversation. Ron and Doug proved to be not only Skilled Hunters but also great company, making for an Unforgettable Hunt.
