Every Hog Hunt tells a story, and this one with Guide Hank was all about good company, patience, and perfect timing.

The night started like most South Georgia Hog Hunts — checking field after field under the cover of darkness with nothing to show for it early on. But around 2 a.m., things changed. That’s earlier than Hank’s recent average for pig sightings, and this time, it paid off.

The group spotted a Lone Boar wandering through a patch of corn, and the stalk was on. Moving quietly through the stalks, they closed the distance and made it happen — a clean, successful shot and a solid Boar on the ground. Two hunters, one pig, and plenty of good laughs to end the night.

“This is what we do on our nights off. Most of the time we drink beer. All of the time. And then sometimes we go hunting”- Peanut Protector Guide Clayton. Father and Son Spring break Hog Hunting in Americus, GA The night had light variable winds that make stalking tough early on. We had a coyote but our stalk so we tried to take it out first. This big boar kept us guessing on where to look for him using ditches and tall grass as cover. We were finally able to drop him after waiting him out. Happy 98th Birthday President Carter. Other things to do while on a Wild Hog Hunt. Plains Georgia is a short 10-15 min drive from downtown Americus. There is some rich history and places to visit during the day. Georgia’s mild weather make it enjoyable during the fall months.

When asked if you want to go Hawk Hunting the girls signed up fast. All they wanted to do was hunt they didn’t care what. It was miss understood Hawk for Hog hunting. The girls shined as always with some impromptu shooting on one of the encounters. Always grateful for the A Soldiers Child Foundation bringing kids who love the outdoors.

It was a long long night of hunting. 2 encounters with the first hog making it to the woods. Finally got on a large sounder and was able to drop 5 hogs. We will do all we can to find hogs. They come out when they want and its damn near impossible to pattern them. Our customers did a 10 hour drive, hunted all night and then drove 10 hours home. I don’t know if they have a phobia of hotels or if they are just hardcore hunters. Grateful to have customers like these.

Tornados and bad weather coudnt’t keep us at bay. 4 encounter for the night yielded 5 hogs and a coyote. Grateful to have customers tough out the rain and weather.
