While our team was preparing for the initial setup, a sounder of Wild Hogs began moving directly toward our position. Early in the night, Hogs were located and a stalk began to take shape, but unexpected wildlife movement disrupted the setup before it could fully come together. Shortly after, another opportunity developed, only to be affected by swirling wind, making it difficult to maintain a clean approach.

As the night went on, conditions continued to deteriorate. Thick fog rolled in, quickly becoming some of the heaviest fog encountered all season. Visibility dropped significantly, limiting both scanning distance and safe movement through the fields.

Despite continued effort and covering ground, hog activity completely shut down under the combination of fog, wind, and pressure, and no recoveries were made on Night 2.

While the second night didn’t produce the same results as Night 1, it was a true example of what Hog Hunting looks like. Weather, wind, and visibility can change everything — even in areas that were productive just hours before.

Night two of this Georgia Thermal Hog Hunt with Guide Clayton brought a mix of challenge, excitement, and a good dose of laughter to finish things off.

The night started slow, with just a single pig spotted around 1 a.m. The crew tried to stalk in close, but the wind shifted and the pig bolted back into the trees — a reminder that in Hog Hunting, every detail matters.

A few hours later, around 3 a.m., the luck turned. The team came across a group of six pigs feeding in the field. The hunters quickly got into position and dropped two in the open field, while a few others were hit but managed to make it back into the trees before recovery. Still, a solid success and an exciting end to the night.

And to top it all off, the photo just above the van had everyone laughing — Clayton said it looks like Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins side by side, with the dad towering over his son.

This Boar Hunt was a night to remember on this Georgia Hog Hunt. These returning hunters have been out with us several times, and after plenty of hard work we finally sealed the deal tonight.

Around midnight, Guide Kaleb spotted a sounder of wild hogs nearly 900 yards out. After a long stalk, they got set up and connected in the field. Later in the night, another sounder was located. With one hunter sitting out, Kaleb joined in alongside the other hunter, and together they put the pressure on the hogs. By the end of the night, they got four hogs.

The hunters were grateful for the opportunity and thankful to have been put right on the pigs. Nights like this are what make Thermal Hog Hunting in Georgia such an Unforgettable Hunting Trip.
